The New Eden

What will it be like to see God face to face? Electrifying? Peaceful? Awesome? Scary? It will certainly be the climax of the Christian faith--one that will never end. Longing for Heaven?

What will heaven be like? Sitting around on clouds and watching angels float by with harps? One long church service where we sing a lot of hymns? Perhaps a celestial retirement community where we golf on the clouds and play shuffle board all day? You may be surprised what the Apostle John says about it from Revelation 21.

John, the disciple exiled to the island of Patmos, received an incredible vision of heaven and the future. Today we look at Revelation 5. Who will open the scroll containing the Living Word and revelation of God. Is there someone on heaven or earth who is worthy?

A Date with Deity

Little did John, Jesus' beloved disciple, know that his exile to the island of Patmos would result in the unveiling of the most prophetic book of the Bible--Revelation. For Mary Magdalene Easter began on the darkest day of her life. In an instant her sorrow turned to joy and her darkness turned to light. Where does Easter begin for you? In difficult circumstances. In a time of confusion. During the sorrow of great loss. At a place where you least expect it Easter can begin for you. Faces in the Crowd

There were many faces in the crowd the day Jesus rode the donkey into Jerusalem. Some objected to his arrival. Some feared his arrival. Others were curious. Many celebrated. An Extravagant Gift

Have you ever been broken open and poured out? Mary, the sister of Lazarus, offered an extravagant gift to Jesus, a pint of nard. She broke it open and poured it on him, thus preparing him for the cross and death. In doing so she demonstated for us what it means to be broken and poured out for Christ. Today's sermon text is John 12:1-11.
